Koch confirmed as Port chairman"There is no way I underestimate the challenges going forward, but I'm excited because I think that together we can make a difference and have a great impact as we guide the club through an incredibly exciting period," Koch said in a statement on Tuesday."I have agreed to the role after taking advice from a great number of people, some of whom are every day members of Port Adelaide who sit in the outer week in and week out."Koch is based in Sydney and is currently the host of the Sunrise program on Channel 7.He is also a financial commentator for various media outlets, a director of his own media company and a shareholder of the Sydney Kings basketball club.He will head up a new look Port Adelaide board with five current directors - chairman Brett Duncanson wow gold, Bruce Abernethy, David Basheer, Nick House and Mick O'Connor resigning.Port said their replacements would be named soon.Chief executive Keith Thomas said the changes followed a review of the club's operations including the skill sets provided by the existing board wow po."That review was in no way critical of the performance of any director but it concluded that the board needed a greater diversity of skills and also a strong national representation to give the club a profile in the key markets where many major corporate decisions are made regarding sponsorship," Thomas said.While based in Sydney, Koch has made a commitment to attend every board meeting in Adelaide and said both he and the club was comfortable with the arrangements that would be put in place."I will have plenty of contact with the people I need to," he said."Technology means that it doesn't matter where you are, you can eyeball people."Koch said he was determined to see Port Adelaide become successful on the football field and financially strong away from it."The two things I'll promise are that every individual associated with the club will do everything they can to be the best in the league and that there will be no lack of heart around Port Adelaide," he said."It will have heart when it plays and it will have heart in the way that it operates as a club including in the way that it deals with its supporters and members."
